Decision
The Executive Member is
recommended to approve a Business Energy Road to Net Zero Grant of
£15,000 to UK ICS.

Reasons for recommendations
The grant funding will enable
the business to further develop and support their sustainable
practices and carbon reduction through the purchase and
installation of a full heating and air conditioning system for both
floors at their location. This will assist with the delivery of the
following outcomes:
·
Reduction in fossil fuel use
·
Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
·
Production of cheaper, green energy

The proposals support the
Council’s Net Zero Policy

Other
options considered and rejected
The option of not granting this
application will have long-term impacts.
Without the grant funding, they
would be unable to afford both the installation of the heating and
air-conditioning system and the cleaning of the solar panels. This
would mean delaying one or both elements of the project, resulting
in continued inefficiencies, higher energy costs, and an
uncomfortable working environment during extreme weather
conditions. It would also reduce the effectiveness of their solar
panels, limiting the environmental and financial benefits they can
provide.
