Reasons for recommendations
The provision of an additional 3G artificial grass football pitch (AGP) in Chorley is supported by the Playing Pitch Strategy and subsequent adopted Open Space, Sports and Recreation Strategy (OSSR) which identifies a shortfall of four AGP pitches across Chorley.
The delivery of the AGP by Euxton Villa Football Club will deliver measurable community outputs which the club will commit to as part of the grant (as set out in the Community Outcomes document included in full at Appendix 4).
Other options considered and rejected
Consideration was given to refusing Euxton Villa FC’s request for funding support. However, the OSSRA evidence base maintains there is a shortage of 4 AGP’s across Chorley and there are limited potential sites in Chorley which are suitable for an AGP. In addition, the Euxton Villa site is supported by the Lancashire Football Association and Football Foundation.
