Award of care and support contract to
Walsingham Support under the under the Open Framework for Supported
Living for people with a learning disability, Mental Health
problem, Autism or physical/sensory impairment. To meet a customer
care and support needs.
Reasons for the decision
The decision has been made for the following
reasons:
To meet a customer, supported living
care and support needs in Cumberland
Ensure the Council complies with
it’s Duty under the Care Act 2024 to provide to provide care and support to eligible residents of Cumbria.
This includes support for individuals with a learning
disability, mental
ill health, autism or a physical and/or sensory
impairment.
The
provider met the required quality threshold to deliver care for
Cumberland customers both at the Supported Living Framework
enrollment stage and as part of the mini competition for the
contract with the providers tender submission assessed against
quality, price and social value.
Alternative options considered
The following alternative options were
considered:
Continue to provide support for customer in
existing support accommodation.
This option was not recommended as care assessment undertaken by
the Adult Social Care Team and Health Care professionals clearly
states that this customer care needs should be met by a
professional Supported Living provider in their own self-contained
accommodation to provide a long-term sustainable care package.
Provided the required care and support service
in an alternative residential setting. This option was not
recommended as the Healthcare Professional and Adult Social Care
Team carried out a Care Assessment which determined the customers
care needs would be best met in his/her own self-contained
accommodation.
