Reasons for the decision

The award of this contract will allow the Port
to carry out its current dredging needs.  
 
This dredging campaign will ensure the Council
continues to ensure the safety of navigation in the Port and its
approaches through the effective regulation and management of
navigation.
 
Tender Process & Evaluation
 
Invitations were issued to six providers to
submit tenders for this year’s dredging campaign. However,
only one contractor was available to undertake the planned 2025
dredging works.

Alternative options considered

Restart the tender process to assess whether
there is additional interest in submitting tenders for the
contract. However, this is unlikely to yield a positive result, as
the demand for dredges in the UK is high, with a shortage of
availability.
