Purpose

This decision seeks permission
to award a contract for the provision of replacement Wide Area
Network (WAN) circuits throughout the Cumberland  ICT
estate.
 
The Council has an extensive
wide area network (WAN) within the Cumberland boundary covering
both rural and town/city locations that supports data, telephony
and Wi-Fi services.
 
Cumberland’s network uses
various connectivity technologies across 110 sites.
 
Many of these circuits are due
to be decommissioned as part of a national PSTN switch off
programme (January 2027) As a result of this national
decommissioning project Cumberland Council have to re-design
purchase and deploy a suitable new WAN solution.
 
The proposed contract will be
for a period of 4 Years.
