1.1.As part of the Workington Town
Deal (WTD) programme a new Innovation Centre will be constructed on
the site of Central Car Park in Workington.
 
1.2.To serve Workington Innovation
Centre a new, permanent electricity supply (approx. 500 kVA) will
be required. A temporary electricity supply (approx. 100 kVA) will
also be required throughout the construction phase.
 
1.3.A decision is required to
secure appropriate temporary and permanent electricity supplies for
the Workington Innovation Centre at the earliest opportunity, or
there is a risk that connection costs will increase significantly.
It is therefore recommended that approximately £40,000 spend
from the approved project budget is authorised in advance of
entering into a full construction
contract with the Principal Contractor. It is recognised that this
spend will be ‘at risk’ if the project does not
continue beyond RIBA stage 4 for any reason.
