The Council has a statutory obligation under
Health & Social Care Act 2012 to provide a local Healthwatch
service (Cumberland Healthwatch) and under legislation, to
commission a range of other statutory advocacy services including,
Care Act Advocacy, Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy, NHS
Complaints Advocacy, and Independent Mental Health advocacy.
 
This paper seeks permission to procure a new
Healthwatch Cumberland service when the existing contract comes to
and end (31st May 2024,) on a 3-year term (1/6/24 to 31/5/27) with
two potential 12 months extensions, cost approximately
£0.189m per annum, £0.945m across the contract term
(3+1+1.)
