In response to a bid developed by Connecting
Cumbria on behalf of the Borderlands Region, an allocation of up to
£3.8m has been made by the Department for Digital, Science,
Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to deliver the Borderlands 5G
Innovation Regions programme.
 
•         For the
Council to act as the Accountable Body of the funding;
•         To
delegate to the Director of Place, Sustainable Growth and
Transport, in consultation with the Leader, Deputy Leader and
Portfolio   Holder for Digital Connectivity and Customer Focus,
the final terms of the agreement with DSIT to accept the proposed
funding allocation for the Borderlands 5G Innovation Regions
Programme
•         To
delegate to the Director of Place, Sustainable Growth and
Transport, in
consultation with the Leader, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder
for Digital Connectivity and Customer Focus, the final terms of the
grant funding agreements with the recipients of the funding for the
Borderlands 5G Innovation Regions Programme.
•        
Procurement activity to be undertaken to secure specialist
resources divided into three specialist areas to be able to deliver
on the required outcomes. The areas are advanced wireless design,
network and Integration services and benefit realisation programme
and design and support technical consultancy services. All
procurement exercises will be carried out in accordance with the
Council's Contract Procedure Rules (CPRs) and in accordance with
the Public Contract Regulations 2015 (PCRs).
