The paper seeks permission to award a
construction contract to undertake phased electrical renewal works
to Orgill Primary School, Egremont. This project will consist of
the full rewiring of Orgill Primary School.
Stobbarts Limited tender submission represents
best value to the authority reflecting the current market and is
the most economically advantageous tender following evaluation in
accordance with the award criteria stated in the tender
documentation.
It is recommended that Stobbarts Limited are
awarded the contract to undertake phased rewiring works to Orgill
Primary School, Egremont. The contract
sum is £550,398.00. The price
adjustment based on current inflation forecast is
£558,427.54.
Reasons for the decision
Orgill Primary School is a major School within
Cumberland educating over 265 students and covering a large
catchment area of Egremont, Cumberland.
Undertake necessary repairs to ensure over 265
pupils continue to be educated in a safe environment.
Alternative options considered
The options available are:
Option (a)
To approve the award of the contract to
Stobbarts Limited for the full rewiring of Orgill Primary
School. The
contract sum is £550,398.00. The
price adjustment based on current inflation forecast is
£558,427.54.
Option (b)
Do nothing/reject the award. The renewal of electrical infrastructure within
the school would not be undertaken. The
School would be at risk of closing due to electrical failures which
will occur sequentially should the electrical infrastructure works
not be actioned. This would have
subsequent impact upon delivery of the School curriculum for over
265 pupils at Orgill Primary School.
