Audit

The Audit Committee is responsible for overseeing the council's audit functions and financial governance. It reviews reports from both internal and external auditors, including annual reports, specific audit findings, and recommendations for improvement. The committee also monitors the council's adherence to its constitution, financial regulations, and codes of conduct, and oversees policies on raising concerns and anti-fraud measures. It plays a key role in agreeing the council's Annual Governance Statement and reviewing and approving the annual statement of accounts, ensuring appropriate accounting policies are followed and addressing any financial concerns.
