DCC Response - Glyndwr National Park Designation Order Public Notice 2026
February 12, 2026 Lead Member for Local Development and Planning (Other) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
On 12 January 2026,
the Natural Resources Wales (NRW) Board agreed to make the Glyndŵr
National Park Designation Order. On 16 January, NRW commenced a public notice
period, which will close on Sunday 15 February 2026. Denbighshire County Council’s position has already been put forward
as part of the statutory consultation 2025. However, we were advised that in
order to formally object and thereby cause the Minister to hold a local public
inquiry, it would be necessary to confirm an objection formally to Welsh
Government (WG) during this public notice period. This decision enables submission
again of our existing response (already approved by Cabinet on 18 November
2026) thereby lodging a formal objection by 15 February.
Content
The Lead Member approves the resubmission of the Council’s
existing consultation response regarding the Glyndŵr National Park
Designation Order, thereby lodging a formal objection during the public notice
period managed by NRW.
Reasons for the decision
Due to extremely tight timescales associated with the public
notice period launched by NRW, a
decision is required on the resubmission of the Council’s existing response
before the closing date of 15 February 2026.
