The Constitution Working Group reviews Derbyshire Dales District Council's Constitution to ensure it remains effective and up-to-date. It examines constitutional and procedural matters, conducts 'health checks' on the Constitution's text, and ensures it aligns with current legislation, council decisions, and best practices.
The group makes recommendations for changes to the Constitution, which are then submitted to the full Council for approval. While it has no decision-making powers itself, it can advise on minor or consequential amendments related to the Monitoring Officer's delegated powers.
