About

The Climate, Environment and Biodiversity Sub Committee scrutinises the impact of climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental activities on the Dumfries and Galloway region. It considers council policies and strategies aimed at mitigating these impacts, and receives information from stakeholders and partners to inform best practices.

The committee reviews the wider council's activities concerning climate change and biodiversity, including annual reports. It examines decarbonisation and energy generation plans, recommending actions to the Economy and Infrastructure Committee. The sub-committee also monitors the Nature Restoration Fund and other initiatives to improve the region's natural environment and address biodiversity loss, making recommendations on funding allocations and prioritising activities.
