Purpose

The council has a duty to repair and maintain
properties under its housing stock to a decent habitable standard
and has a legal obligation to ensure fire risks are managed and
provide appropriate fire prevention and intervention systems to
properties.
 
Individual contracts were awarded to Gerda
Security Products Limited and Shellen Security Limited and both
started on 15 September 2020. Both contracts are for an initial
period of 3 years with the option to extend for a further 2 years.
Both contracts were extended in 2023 for the additional 2 years,
and they are now both due to expire on 14 September 2025.
 
This report recommends an extension of the
current contracts with both Gerda Security Products Limited and
Shellen Security Limited for a period of 1 year from 15 September
2025 to 14 September 2026. Each contract has a value up to
£1,000,000 per annum. These services are crucial to the
council’s operations. Both contractors have performed well
since their contract commenced, and it will be expected that they
will continue to deliver at the same level as a minimum.
