Purpose

The council has a duty to repair and maintain
properties under its housing stock to a decent habitable standard
and has a legal obligation to ensure fire risks are managed and
provide appropriate fire prevention and intervention systems to
properties.
 
The council awarded two separate contracts to
CLM Fireproofing Limited and Trail Services (UK) Limited
respectively and both commenced on 22 November 2021. Both contracts
are for an initial period of 3 years with the option to extend for
a further 2 years. In November 2024, both contracts were extended
for the first year of the 2-year extension available under the
provisions of the contracts. Both extensions will expire on 21
November 2025.
 
This report recommends the extension of the
current contracts with CLM Fireproofing Limited and Trail Services
(UK) Limited for a further period of 1 year from 22 November 2025
to 21 November 2026, both being the second year of the extension
period allowed. These services are crucial to the council’s
operations. Both contractors have performed well since their
contract commenced, and it will be expected that they will continue
to deliver at the same level as a minimum.
