The Development Management Committee was responsible for considering significant or contentious town and country planning and development control issues for East Devon. While most planning matters were handled by officers under delegated powers, this committee reviewed applications referred to it, potentially after a site inspection. The public had the opportunity to present their views directly to the committee before decisions were made. This committee has since been reconstituted as the Planning Committee.
