The Strategic Planning Committee is responsible for developing and recommending key planning policy documents for East Devon. It considers and recommends the Local Development Scheme, Statement of Community Involvement, Annual Monitoring Report, and Development Plan Documents to the Council for examination and adoption. The committee also authorises public consultations on planning policy and advises Cabinet on Neighbourhood Planning matters. It considers and adopts planning policy documents not classified as Development Plan Documents, receives reports on planning policy, and advises Council on the Community Infrastructure Levy. The committee also designates and alters conservation areas. It does not determine planning applications, which is handled by the Planning Committee.
