The Overview and Scrutiny Committee scrutinises the decisions and actions of the Council's Executive and other bodies responsible for local services and crime and disorder strategies. It reviews council performance against objectives, considers policy impacts, and examines the use of investigatory powers and safeguarding responsibilities.
The committee can question Executive members and officers, conduct research, and consult with the community. It makes reports and recommendations to the Council or Executive, and can appoint task groups for detailed scrutiny. It also reviews decisions before implementation through a call-in procedure.
