Purpose

Approval, in principal, to approve up to
£200,000 match funding for the Ward Freman Community Pool
Group CIO bid to the Community Ownership Fund for £900k to
replace the pool plant, repairs to the pool tanks and re-open the
Ward Freman swimming pool under Ward Freman Community Pool Group
CIO management. The match funding will come from the existing
leisure budget which has provision for payment to SLM to operate
the pool as part of the council's leisure contract.

Decision

a) Agree in principle to provide match funding
of up to £200,000 to support the Ward Freeman Community Pool
Group CIO application to the Government’s Community Ownership
Fund.
 
b) Authorise the Head of Strategic Finance and
Property to issue a letter of support for the Community Ownership
Fund bid setting out the in-principle match funding agreement.
 
c) Authorise the Head of Strategic Finance and
Property to include in the letter the additional information
concerning a publicly owned asset that the application will
require.
