About

The Sussex Police and Crime Panel provides oversight and accountability for the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner. It scrutinises the Commissioner's performance to ensure transparency and holds them accountable to the public.

The Panel reviews the draft Police and Crime Plan and the Commissioner's annual report, making recommendations that the Commissioner must consider. It also handles complaints about the Commissioner, can require their attendance to answer questions, and has powers to veto proposed precept levels and Chief Constable candidates. The Panel can also appoint an acting Commissioner if needed.
