Purpose
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out
works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections
14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as
amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of
road;
Decision
Temporary Road Closures
Rye Hill - from the junction with C296 Military Road to the
junction with A268 Rye Road.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 22 & 28
September 2025.
Rye Road - from the junction with C295 Houghton Green Lane to the
junction with A268 Rye Hill.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 18 & 25
September 2025.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access
for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with
an alternative route for through traffic via A268 Rye Road, Main
Street, Flackley Ash, Barnets Hill, Two Hovens, Peasmarsh Road,
Whitebread Lane - A28 Station Road, Main Street, Hastings Road,
Perryman Cross, Well House Hill, Horns Cross, Northiam Road, Cackle
Street, Brede Hill, Brede Road, Main Road, Church Lane, Westfield
Lane - A21(T) Sedlescombe Road North – A21 Sedlescombe Road
North - A2101 St Helens Road, Park Gates roundabout, Queens Road,
Albert Road - A259 Denmark Place, Fountain roundabout, Breeds
Place, Pelham Place, Sturdee Place, Marine Parade, East Parade,
East Beach, The Bourne, Old London Road, Rye Road - A259(T)
Winchelsea Road, White Hart Hill, Winchelsea Road, Rye Road, The
Thorne, Main Road, Hastings Road, Rectory Lane, Roberts Hill, Ferry
Hill, Tanyard Lane, Royal Military Road, New Winchelsea Road,
Winchelsea Road, Wish Street roundabout, Strand Quay, South
Undercliff, Fishmarket Road, Fishmarket roundabout - A268
Fishmarket Road, Rye Hill and vice versa.
The Order commences 18 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18
months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 18
& 28 September 2025 as set out above depending upon the weather
conditions.
