Purpose
NOTICE is hereby given that East Sussex County
Council have made an Order under Sections 1(1), 2, 3(2) and 4 of
the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will come
into force on 28 February 2026 and introduces a weight restriction
of any vehicles exceeding 3 tonnes from using the following length
of highway:-
Decision
Chailey Byway 8f – that part of Chailey Byway 8f which is
carried by Bridge B0380; the full expanse of the bridge.
A copy of the Order, plans showing the length of highway and a
statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may
be examined in Reception, County Hall, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1UE
on Mondays to Fridays between 9:00am and 4:00pm.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of
its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers
conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act of 1984, or on the
grounds that any requirement of the Road Traffic Regulation Act or
of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in
relation to the Order, may within six weeks of 27 February 2026,
apply to the High Court for this purpose.
