Purpose

NOTICE is hereby given that East Sussex County
Council have made an Order, coming into effect on 13 February 2026,
under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act
1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, which
introduces new, or revises existing prescribed routes along the
following lengths of road in connection with the introduction of a
new Pedestrian Zone in Terminus Road (between Seaside Road and
Grand Parade) as part of the next phase of the Town Centre
improvement scheme:-

Decision

Amendment of One Way Traffic in the following
roads;
Burlington Road between Terminus Road and Elms Avenue
Seaside Road between Terminus Road and Cavendish Place
Terminus Road between Seaside Road and Grand Parade
Trinity Trees between Trinity Place and Terminus Road

Removal of No Right Turn in the following roads;
Into Terminus Road from Seaside Road

Removal of Right turn only in the following road;
Burlington Road into Terminus Road

Introduce Left Turn Only in the following roads;
Elms Road into Burlington Road
Terminus Road into Burlington Road

Amend Prohibition of Entry in the following roads;
Into Terminus Road from Seaside Road
Into Terminus Road from Burlington Road

A copy of the Order, plans showing the lengths of road and a
statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order along
with a copy of the Order being amended can be viewed in Reception,
East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St. Anne’s Crescent,
Lewes BN7 1UE on Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm or online
at;

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of
its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers
conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act of 1984, or on the
grounds that any requirement of the Road Traffic Regulation Act or
of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in
relation to the Order, may within six weeks of 6 February 2026,
apply to the High Court for this purpose.
