Purpose

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out
works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections
14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as
amended, which will temporarily close the following length of
road;

Decision

Temporary Road Closure
Windmill Hill Road - from the junction with A271 Gardner Street to
the junction with C16 Victoria Road

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access
for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with
an alternative route for through traffic via A271 Windmill Hill
Road, The Strait, Boreham Hill, Kitchenham Road, Beechdown Wood -
B2096 Kane Hythe Road, Darwell Hill, Battle Road, Woods Corner,
Battle Road, Carricks Hill, Earls Down, Battle Road, Cade Street -
B2096 Battle Road - A265 Burwash Road, Mutton Hall Hill, High
Street, Cross In Hand Road - A267 Little London Road, High Street,
Horam Road, Eastbourne Road, North Street, New North Street - A22
Boship roundabout - A271 Lower Horsebridge, Upper Horsebridge,
Hawkswood Road, Amberstone, New Road, Hailsham Road, Gardner Street
and vice versa.

The Order commences 4 December 2023 and lasts for a period of 18
months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 4 & 5
December 2023 depending upon the weather conditions.
