Purpose

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
The Street / Wilbees Road - from the junction with C210 Bayleys Lane to the junction with U7083 Tye Hill Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic northbound via C340 The Street, Chilver Bridge Road - C39 Station Road - A27(T) Drusillas roundabout, Lewes Road, Eastbourne Road, Cop Hall roundabout - A22 Hailsham Road, Polegate Road, Arlington Eagles roundabout, Hailsham Bypass – C210 Arlington Road West, Caneheath and southbound via C210 Caneheath, Arlington Road West - A22 Hailsham Bypass, Diplocks roundabout, Hailsham Bypass, Arlington Eagles roundabout, Polegate Road, Hailsham Road - A27(T) Cop Hall roundabout, Eastbourne Road, Lewes Road, Drusillas roundabout – C39 Station Road - C340 Chilver Bridge Road, The Street.

The Order commences 10 August 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 10 August & 9 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.
