Purpose

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Decision

Temporary Road Closures
South Road - from the junction with P8676 Factory Lane to the junction with B2104 Western Road.
Diversion via A295 South Road - A22 Arlington Eagles roundabout, Hailsham Bypass, Diplocks roundabout, Hailsham Bypass, Boship roundabout - A271 Lower Horsebridge, Upper Horsebridge, Hawkswood Road - A295 Battle Road, High Street, North Street, George Street and vice versa.

Diplocks Way - from the junction with U7221 Apex Way to the junction with A295 South Road.
Diversion northbound via U7221 Diplocks Way - A22 Diplocks roundabout, Hailsham Bypass, Boship roundabout - A271 Lower Horsebridge - B2104 London Road - A295 High Street, North Street, George Street, South Road and southbound via U7221 Diplocks Way - A22 Diplocks roundabout, Hailsham Bypass, Arlington Eagles roundabout - A295 South Road.

Ersham Road - from the junction with U7264 Sandbanks Way to the junction with A295 South Road.
Diversion via B2104 Ersham Road, Hailsham Road - B2247 Dittons Road, Dittons Road roundabout - A22 Dittons Road roundabout South, Golden Jubilee Way - A27 Dittons Road roundabout North, Polegate Bypass, Cop Hall roundabout - A22 Hailsham Road, Polegate Road, Arlington Eagles roundabout - A295 South Road and vice versa.

Gordon Road - from the junction with A295 South Road to the junction with U7716 Windsor Road.

To maintain access a suspension of one-way traffic will be in place (revert to two-way traffic) on Gordon Road, Hailsham during these works.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic set out above.

The Order commences 24 August 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 24 August & 31 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.
