The Audit & Governance Committee provides independent assurance to Epping Forest Council on the effectiveness of its internal control and risk management systems. It reviews the council's strategies for regulating its activities and ensuring robust governance.

Key responsibilities include scrutinising the assurance framework and the annual Statement on Internal Control, overseeing the local Code of Corporate Governance (excluding Standards Committee matters), reviewing arrangements for Value for Money, and ensuring anti-fraud measures are in place, including receiving annual reports on anti-fraud activities and prosecutions.
