About

The Audit and Scrutiny Committee is responsible for reviewing the council's decisions and performance, ensuring good governance, and overseeing financial management. It examines audit reports, monitors the council's annual plan, and scrutinises budget performance and accounts.

The committee has an oversight role for compliance with Best Value duties and reviews reports from the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman. It can make recommendations to the Full Council on matters with significant budget or policy implications and has the power to call in decisions for reconsideration. Residents who live, work, or own land in the Borough can ask questions or make statements on matters within the committee's remit.
