Purpose
This report presents an
application for funding under the Council’s Community Funding Programme.
An application to the Community
Fund has been received from the youth support charity Motiv8 South for
£3,800.57 towards enhancements for their new Broadlaw Community Space location.
Motiv8 South would like to
purchase equipment for their recreation and sensory space, a refresh of the
kitchen and dining space and equipment for their Lego Seriously Play programme.
In July 2025, Motiv8 South took on the lease of Broadlaw Community Space and
are expecting to directly reach approximately 200 unique young people and
families in the youth hub space per year through open access work and focussed
delivery. Other community organisations will also be able to use the youth hub
space and these resources.
The total cost of this project is £4,489.55. Motiv8 South are looking for
£3,800.57 from the Community Fund, with the remaining amount of £688.98 being
funded from Motiv8 South reserves.
As of 10 December 2025, Motiv8
South held £294,582.68 in their accounts. In the accounting year 1 April 2023 –
31 March 2024 within the central accounts, there was an income of £1,554,339
and expenditure of £1,483,802. Money received for this project will be
ringfenced for designated spending at Broadlaw within their ongoing management
accounts.
Both Ward Councillors, Councillor Furnivall and Councillor Ingram support
the Motiv8 South community funding application.
Decision
RESOLVED that the Executive
Member for Leisure and Community approve the award of £3,800.57 from the
Community Fund with the following condition:

ringfenced for Broadlaw Community Space.
