Purpose

To seek approval to publish the final Corporate
Peer Challenge (CPC) Progress Review report following a scheduled follow up
visit by the Local Government Association’s (LGA) Peer Team in December 2025.

 

The Corporate Peer Challenge (CPC) is a free peer review process run the
by the Local Government Association (LGA). The Peer Challenge team first
visited the Council between 10 and 12 March 2025. They interviewed and ran
workshops with officers and Councillors from across the organisation, as well
as external partners.

 

The 3 June 2025 Executive approved the publishing of the Peer Team’s
feedback report. This presented a very positive picture of the Council as an
organisation and a partner.  As with all
CPC reviews, a number of recommendations to support continued improvement were
made and an Action Plan to respond to these was also approved at the meeting.

 

Ahead of the scheduled return visit by the CPC Team, the 3 November 2025
Executive approved the publishing of a Progress Review Position Statement.  This outlined progress against the agreed
Action Plan, with all available activities either in progress or complete.

 

The in-person progress review took place in the Civic Offices on 9
December 2025. This involved discussions and workshops with Members and
officers. 

 

The final progress review report from the LGA can be found in Appendix
A.  Approval is sought to publish it on
the Council’s and LGA’s websites.  As
with the first report, this presents a very positive picture of the work of the
Council. When published this will
conclude the review process.

Decision

RESOLVED that the Executive approves the publishing
of the final Corporate Peer Challenge report as attached at Appendix A to the
report.
