The Garden Waste subscription fee was originally set by Cabinet in October 2016, and through subsequent fees and charges and decision notices, and has been maintained at the same level since then.

The fees are for each individual Garden Waste Service subscription; in line with fees and charges as adopted by Cabinet early in 2026.

To set the fees for garden waste season 2027 to 2028 as £62 per card/cash subscription and set the fee for Direct Debit subscription payments to £51.

Reasons for the decision

Fees to be publicised in autumn 2026 and existing customers to be communicated with early prior to 2027/28 subscriptions going on sale on 1 December 2026.

Garden Waste service forms part of the Council’s Medium Term Financial Plan.

The service was set out in 2016 by Cabinet as self-funding and as such fees increase in line with increasing service-related costs.
