Purpose

To provide an update on the current offer from Flintshire to support carers in seeking acknowledgement and support to continue to expand and progress in this area.

Decision

(a)      That the expansion of overnight short-break capacity exploring a range of potential models such as shared care, foster-based short breaks, and flexible overnight support be endorsed;

(b)      That the development of a structured programme of engagement, delivered through the North Wales Together Board, with disabled children, parents and carers  be supported to:

·       Inform the co-design of enhanced and new short break provision

·       Test and evaluate a range of flexible support models; and

·       Capture lived experience to shape continuous improvement, ensuring quality, impact and outcomes are clearly evidenced

(c)      That Members support specific foster carer recruitment campaigns focusing on short-break and overnight support roles for disabled children.
