Purpose

To provide the Committee with details of the closing balances held by Flintshire schools at the end of the financial year.

Decision

(a)                That the Committee review the report, the level of school reserves as at the 31 March 2026, and overview of schools’ current financial position.

(b)                That a letter is sent to Welsh Government on behalf of the Committee to request further funding to be allocated specifically for education for all pupils including pupils with Additional Learning Needs; and

(c)                That the Committee recommend to Cabinet that it be mindful of school deficits when considering the education budget for 2027/28.
