Disciplinary Appeals Committee

The Disciplinary Appeals Committee hears and decides appeals against disciplinary actions (excluding dismissal) taken by the Personnel Committee. These appeals are brought by the council's senior statutory officers, who have the right to attend and be represented. The committee operates according to the council's standard appeal procedures and can seek external legal advice, with the appealing officer covering associated costs. The committee is politically balanced, comprising five councillors, including one Cabinet Member, who must not be members of the Personnel Committee and have completed mandatory training. Members remain consistent throughout the consideration of an appeal.
