The East Kent Joint Arrangements Committee (EKJAC) is responsible for managing shared services agreed upon by two or more participating local authorities. It exercises both executive and non-executive functions to commission, coordinate, provide, and procure these services.
The committee provides strategic direction to officers, develops work programmes for delegated functions, and monitors the operation of shared services. It also proposes, monitors, and manages budgets for these services. The EKJAC reports on its activities to the participating authorities and responds to recommendations from the East Kent Joint Scrutiny Committee. It can also propose improvements, changes, and the creation of new structures like companies or partnerships to achieve its objectives.
