Purpose
Saltwood Village Hall fencing wall - To rebuild the supporting
fencing brick wall at the Saltwood Village Hall.
Decision
To provide funding of £200.00 to the above
project.
Reason for decision:
Initially, a hedge wall was
growing from behind the brick wall. It got to the point when the
hedge was significantly leaning onto the walking path becoming
hazardous to the pedestrians. The people had to walk on the main
road instead of the path, making the situation for the community
and visitors of the Village Hall unsafe. The trustees of the
Charity took the decision to remove the hedge which has cleared the
path. However, removing the hedge exposed the dirt the hedge was
suppressing. The dirt is coming off the wall down the path now. Due
to the road being downhill, it becomes slippery and unsafe for
pedestrians to use the path, especially after the rain. The dirt
and leaves block the road drainage and cause mild flooding. The
only way to control the situation is to build/rebuild a higher
wall.
