Purpose

Disco Soup
Hythe -
The grant
will be spent on paying 50% of the fees for two local bands to play
live on the Hythe Bandstand at the Disco Soup event.

Decision

To provide funding of £225 to the above
project.

Reason for decision:
The
event will raise awareness around the issue of food waste and the
impact on climate change. It empowers local people to
be a #foodwastehero whilst helping us
in our mission to transform surplus food into a community
feast. Disco Soup events offer a chance for all ages to
learn about what food is grown and wasted locally, and different
ways to create healthy, affordable meals from this food. The event
promotes community cohesion through bringing local people together
to prep, cook, eat and dance together with
the satisfaction of knowing that they
are also doing their bit to reduce food waste as well. People are
encouraged to take home recipes and Tupperware for
leftovers.
The event builds
relationships between the food producers, activists and citizens to further develop
participation at the Community Fridge and other Feeding Folkestone
activities, reducing food insecurity and social
isolation.
