St Mary in the Marsh Project
October 6, 2023 Ward member for Romney Marsh (1) (Other) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Regeneration of Community space providing a hub and green space
for
community use.
The grant is for 20 tons of type 1
limestone needed to complete the new
drainage system for the replacement
building on the Glebe Field, St Mary
in the Marsh.
Decision
To provide
funding of £996.80 to the above project.
Reason for decision:
The Project Fund has been granted Planning
Permission to replace the
former World War 1 hut which had become
dilapidated and had collapsed
with a new one. This grant will help enable
the St Mary in the Marsh
Project Fund to install drainage and the
foundations for a new community
hub, on moving closer to providing a
much-needed facility in this rather
Isolated community on Romney Marsh, where
there are no shops or
public transport, while awaiting a decision
further funding to finally
complete the project.
