The Kent and Medway Police and Crime Panel is a joint committee of Kent County Council, Medway Council, and twelve district councils. Its role is to scrutinise and provide a check on the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC). While it has no direct control, the Panel can require the PCC to attend meetings, provide information, and comment on draft Police and Crime Plans and expenditure proposals. It has the power to veto the PCC's proposed precept and the appointment of a Chief Constable, and to review but not veto other staff appointments within the PCC's office.
