Continuation of current hardware and software
firewall licences to ensure the Council’s core firewalls are
maintained with appropriate licensing and functionality.

Reasons for the decision

The Council's firewall licence agreement
expires on 31st March 2025. The Council operates firewalls to both
protect the perimeter of its network, and to protect individual
servers and devices. This provides a critical level of security
protection for the Council's network and data.

Alternative options considered

Three suppliers were asked to quote for the
required licensing, and the best priced offer was chosen.
