The relocation of the GBC Depot is required to
release land for the development of the Weyside Urban Village
housing project. A separate Contractor was originally appointed to
deliver the GBC Depot project, but their pricing was significantly
above the project allowances. This was due to the risks associated
with the ground remediation works, MEP services, and the Multi
Storey Car Park. As a result, GBC has considered alternative routes
and shall appoint another contractor via the NHS Framework as the
alternative preferred Main Contractor to complete the design of the
new GBC Depot and MSCP. GBC has also agreed an alternative
Contracting Strategy to mitigate risk on programme and HIF
expenditure.
