Procurement of an email spam threat protection
service to continue to protect the Council from email spam and
email-based cyber-attacks.

Reasons for the decision

The Council's existing email spam and threat
protection service licensing expires in September 2025. Continued
protection has been recommended by the ICT department to mitigate
the impact of email spam and the risk of email based cyber-attacks
on the Council.

Alternative options considered

The Council is now working in collaboration
with Waverley Borough Council. As the joint staff-base continues to
expand, a shared solution is expected to provide efficiencies
through a common IT maintenance skillset as well as providing
joint-staff across the collaboration with a consistent user
experience. The current Waverley BC solution was therefore
considered as the incumbent Guildford BC solution is being
discontinued by the vendor. Alternative solutions were not
considered on this occasion to avoid investing in further deviation
of this technology area within the collaboration.
The Council looked to three suppliers for quotations. The best
priced option was chosen for this procurement.
