Procurement of up to 200 additional laptops
from Dell for organisation use (Officer/Councillor devices) at a
cost below £400 each, so a total below £80,000.

Reasons for the decision

The ICT team in Guildford BC oversees internal
IT support, including the provision and maintenance of laptops for
Officers and Councillors.
The current stock level does not support the replacement of all
devices that have been identified as due replacement. A decision
was therefore made to procure additional laptops. This will address
anticipated demand and support the replacement of the worst of our
aged laptops.

Alternative options considered

A market review of laptop options in June 2025
showed that the reseller/channel-partner market could not compete
with a manufacturer stock clearance offer at a similar price to
that currently on offer. As a result, purchase from the
manufacturer whilst on a clearance price was determined best
value-for-money.
