This decision relates to the variation to an
existing contract with Chess Engage which has provision for a one
year extension. The services relate to the provision of
communications and engagement support for Weyside Urban
Village.
The anticipated spend for 4th year is £124,000.

Reasons for the decision

There is provision within the existing
contract to allow extension for a further year. Chess Engage is
currently embedded in the project and well-versed in the overall
programme.

Alternative options considered

The Council could decide not to vary the
contract with Chess Engage to extend the contract for a further
year. However, the Council would need to then carry out a
procurement exercise to appoint a new consultant which would leave
a gap in resource in the intervening period. This was not
considered an appropriate option.
