Structural Steelwork inspection – Spectrum pool halls
November 17, 2025 Leisure Contracts Manager (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Content
The structural steelwork within the pool halls
at Guildford Spectrum requires periodic inspection by a qualified
structural engineer to ascertain the condition of the steelwork.
The survey is required to inform the Council whether any remedial
works is required. A high level survey, via ropes access, is to be
completed this month (November) over two nights during out of hours
(to ensure no disruption to the venue operation). The condition of
the steelwork will then be presented via a detailed report which
will then inform the Council of any potential repairs
required.
The cost of the survey (including report and a marked up plan) is
£11,088.55. This also allows for over-night working.
Reasons for the decision
By undertaking the required survey, the
Council will be fulfilling its contractual obligations under the
leisure operating contract, in addition to its general H&S
obligations. It is essential this survey is undertaken so that any
works arising can be organised.
Alternative options considered
None.
