Procurement of up to 50 refurbished laptops
for organisation use (Officer/Councillor devices) at a cost below
£400 each, so a total below £20,000.

Reasons for the decision

The ICT team in Guildford BC oversees internal
IT support, including the provision and maintenance of laptops for
Officers and Councillors. There are no laptops in stock currently,
preventing the issuing of devices to joiners and the replacement of
devices that have been identified as due replacement. A decision
was therefore made to procure a small number of laptops. This will
address immediate demand whilst longer-term requirements are
considered.

Alternative options considered

A market review of laptop options was
conducted. Refurbished laptops were identified as potentially
better value, and offering a more sustainable environmental option.
Quotes were obtained from three potential suppliers previously used
by the Council. Responses were evaluated based on the required
specifications, delivery timescales, and cost. The option offering
the best price and suitability was selected.
