SIP (phone connectivity) service call bundle change

Contract amendment to adjust the call bundle
purchased as part of the Council’s existing SIP (phone
connectivity) service.
Reasons for the decision
The Council’s core phone service is
provided via a SIP trunk with a call bundle associated with it that
is limited to 5,000 minutes per month. This is significantly lower
than actual usage, and results in call charges to the
Council.
A review of bundle options has identified that moving to an
unlimited call bundle, with a small international call allowance,
will cost the Council less than current usage charges. Changing
call bundles does not affect the term of the BT SIP contract. This
was therefore considered better value-for-money than the current
call bundle.
Alternative options considered
The Council is in-contract with BT for its
current SIP service. Call bundles can only be purchased from the
current SIP provider. The options considered were therefore limited
to the options offered by the current provider, including
continuing with the pre-existing call bundle.
