Decision:

To note the annual strategic review of the charity.

Reason(s):

1. As a trustee the Council has a responsibility to ensure it has in place robust mechanisms for making trustee decisions which are in the best interests of the charities.
2. The recommendation is designed to assist the Committee with fulfilling its role as trustee, in compliance with the relevant accounting and reporting responsibilities, whilst supporting good governance of the charities.

Other options considered and rejected by the Committee:

Do nothing – do not receive an annual review on the Charity which will expose the Charity and Council to risk as the Council, as trustee, has legal responsibility for the management and administration of the charity, and this report supports the Council deliver on this responsibility.
