Decision

Decision:

To note the annual review of Burpham War Memorial Recreational Ground Charity.

Reason(s):

1. To enable the Council as trustee to review the charity’s objects and ensure it has good governance processes in place for making trustee decisions that are in the best interest of the charity.
2. To ensure the Council is exercising its trustee function competently, robustly, and transparently for Burpham War Memorial Recreational Ground.
3. To enable the Executive Shareholders & Trustee Committee   with functional control over the charity to report that the Charity is being managed effectively to promote its charitable objects.

Other options considered and rejected by the Committee:

Do Nothing – do not receive an annual review on the Charity.  This would expose the Charity and Council to risk as the Council, as trustee, has legal responsibility for the management and administration of the charity, which this report does to support the Council to deliver on this responsibility.
