To approve the grant of the occupational licence to erect scaffolding on adjoining Guildford Borough Council (GBC) land to allow the exterior painting of the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in line with the following terms and conditions:
The fee will be £50.00 per day.
The agreed licence period is 17th August 2026 – 13th September 2026.

Reasons for the decision

The tenant occupies the GBC owned Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. The lease sets out the tenant’s repairing liabilities which includes external redecoration. The scaffolding is required to paint the exterior of the theatre.

Alternative options considered

The decision meets the policy requirements for the Council and there were no alternative options available
